Best Crochet Patterns for Spring

I always wonder what projects crocheters work on when the weather is warmer. I definitely don’t crochet less, that is simply not a thing for me! I just work on different types of projects – like smaller, more light weight crochet patterns. Essentially projects that aren’t bulky and weighing on me when I’m trying to cool off in the heat!

I also have 3 little kiddos. After a long season of blanket-making, I love to make a few new amigurumi stuffies and toys for them. I’m excited to share some fun spring-themed plushies that are super quick makes.

I love making things for myself, my kiddos, and little trinket type gifts for friends and family. I’ve rounded up crochet patterns the following patterns you can make for yourself or your loved ones:

Farmhouse Eggs

These crochet eggs are so adorable! Even if it’s not Easter they are fabulous to add to centerpieces, use to fill your decorative bowls, or for toddlers to play hide-and-seek with over and over again all Spring long! This pattern uses Wool Ease Thick & Quick, so they work up super fast and end up being the perfect hand-held size. I happened to have left over Thick & Quick yarn from a beanie-making over the winter and this was a great way to use up those scraps and give to my littles (ages 1, 3, and 4). They don’t care if it’s Easter or not to hide these eggs from each other 🙂

Peep Bunnies

My kiddos love these peep bunnies and seriously play with them all year long. I made them in adorable pastel colors last year for Easter and put them in their baskets, they still play with them! They’re the perfect little fun size. These also whip up quick using a chunky yarn and they are NO SEW (a great plus!). These also are a great project to use up scrap yarn. I even made some with worsted yarn and they turned out to be handheld little bunnies. My toddler girls in particular loved them, they thought they were “so cute”!

Bunny Crochet Lovey

I absolutely adore crochet animal loveys and snugglers for the little ones. They add a loving, handmade touch to a baby shower gift. These bunnies are so sweet and are the perfect size for babies. I have this pattern and made a couple myself. There are options if you want to use multiple colors or make a solid-colored bunny. It’s really a nice touch.

Mabel Chicken

This chicken pattern is incredible. It works up super fast and the pattern is straightforward. I’ve seen this chicken in so many color variations and they are all so cute! I’ve made my share in them using the Bernat blanket yarn. My favorite are the browns, whites, and speckled colorways – they look like real chickens. I love, love, love them all! Great for markets, especially if you have a farm theme!

Spring Accessories

Granny Square Canvas Bag Cover

This crochet idea by B.Hooked Crochet is genius and so easy! I usually have a stash of granny squares that I’m not sure what to do with – it’s just the best way to use up the last of my scrap yarn after a project. This DIY bag cover is a perfect way to use up random grannies you have. Better yet – it’s functional. I’m a sucker for a tote bag, especially a cute one I can show off. Her YouTube tutorial here shows you step-by-step of how to construct granny squares over any sized canvas tote bag.

Car Cup Holder Coasters

Another warm-weathered accessory, you may not always think about, is for your car cup holder! In Spring and Summer you’re probably bringing an ice-cold something around, and you probably should be using a car coaster! These are SO fast and easy, the YouTube video (you can find here) even times how long it takes – less than 4 minutes! This is another great project for markets or a gift add-on for anyone who drives.

Soap Saver Bag

This might be a random idea, but I’m here for it. I love this project idea from Briana K Designs. It’s a quick project and you can make these all year round for you and your family, or better yet – gift it! I recently made one and used it and I’m making them for all my kids. It’s a great way to stop using plastic bottles of body wash. I’m not going to lie I was a little hesitant, mostly because I love a good lather when I’m soaping up and I didn’t think I would get that if my soap was in a crocheted bag. But nonetheless, I gave it a try and the soap still gets super foamy and I do feel like I’m getting a good clean! These Soap Saver Bags are made using single crochet and the moss stitch, so they’re super simple and addicting to make. She makes an icord, which i didn’t do – I just chained a long chain and looped it through the bag to sinch it 🙂

All Star Can Cozy

I don’t know about you, but I have a ton of can cozies at my house and we use them all the time! I should probably toss at least half of them away, but here I am talking about more to make because this one is too adorable 🙂 This All Star Can Cozy crochet pattern by The Turtle Trunk offers 2 cozy sizes for a regular can and for a tall skinny can. It has great texture, made up using the star stitch. If you’ve never done the star stitch before, don’t worry – she does a great job walking you through it in her YouTube tutorial here, she also has a free written pattern here on her blog. Also, this little project is the perfect way to practice this stitch for the first time.

Spring Wearables

Toddler Bucket Hat

These toddler bucket hats are beginner friendly. The main section is worked up using double crochet stitches, with a classic shell stitch border. Using a light cotton yarn, you can make a toddler hat to help protect their little heads from the sun.

Another bucket hat pattern, this one is for all ages. And yes, another pattern from MJ’s Off The Hook Designs! I just adore her YouTube channel (you can find here), I’m subscribed and watch all her new pattern tutorials. She has a very straight-forward way of teaching her patterns and I am a huge fan! Perfect for beginners. And this bucket hat pattern does not disappoint, complete with sizes from baby to adult. She suggests a worsted cotton yarn – which is exactly what you want to use for warm-weather wearables.

Summer Diamonds Toddler Dress

This toddler crochet dress by One Dog Woof is so cute I can’t even! I haven’t made it yet, but I purchased the pattern and I WILL be making two of these dresses for my little girls this spring! I think this would be such a cute bathing suit cover up or light dress to wear after swimming for something quick to throw on and easy to carry around. I love the geometric diamond theme. It uses simple stitches and the pattern is very straight-forward. There is so much to love about this pattern! Purchase the pattern on Etsy here!

My Precious Sweater Pattern

Yes, I do love geometric patterns and this one needed to be on my list. This adult-sized sweater is perfect for the transitional days into Spring where you just need a light layer. The My Precious Sweater crochet pattern by Katerina suggests a DK yarn and is constructed of open stitches, keeping this sweater super lightweight.
